    The Sweetland Center for Writing at the University of Michigan is seeking to hire one part-time (67%) LEO Lecturer I to teach Writing 120: College Writing for International Students and ten hours per week in Writing Workshop for the Fall 2018 term only, September 1-December 31, 2018. Contingent upon student demand, a second section of Writing 120 may become available in late-August/early-September increasing the effort to 100%.

    Ferris State University is seeking to fill an Education Abroad Coordinator position in the Office of International Education. The coordinator, in support of the goals of the office, will be part of an innovative and student-centered team of International Educators. The position requires attention to detail and excellent communication skills. The selected candidate will be a student-centered professional and a team player.


    The coordinator will be responsible for supporting campus globalization efforts including event planning and coordinating co-curricular activities and engagements to encourage experiential learning.     Lake Michigan College is seeking qualified, experienced writing specialist tutors to provide one-to-one consultations with faculty, staff, and student writers in its Writing Center.

     

    We have 2 part-time specialist tutor openings. We seek tutors with experience in the following areas:

    • Teaching English composition, developmental writing, or English for academic purposes ESL bridge courses at the college level and/or working in a writing center affiliated with a college or university
    • Working one-on-one with students on various writing assignments, both in face-to-face and online contexts
    • Working in a wiki and/or collaborative writing spaces such as GoogleDrive, Dropbox, Microsoft Teams, or learning management systems such as Canvas, Moodle, Sakai, Google Classroom, etc.
    • Explaining grammatical functions and rhetorical concepts used in first- and second-year academic writing
    • Working with colleagues in a team environment

     

    Availability Dates: September 04, 2018 – December 16, 2018 (with orientation and program development time from August 27 – 31, 2018) with opportunities to continue working from January 2019 – June 30, 2018.

    We have approximately 2 part-time faculty openings. We seek instructors with experience in the following areas:

    ·         Content-based and task-based approaches to language teaching

    ·         Academic writing instruction (e.g., communicating in an academic environment, paragraph development, and essay-writing)

    ·         Interactive academic listening (e.g., lecture comprehension and note-taking skills)

    ·         Interactive academic speaking (e.g., small and large-group discussion skills and strategies)

    ·         Academic reading instruction (e.g., comprehension of and critical thinking with complex texts, summarizing and paraphrasing information, academic vocabulary building)

    ·         Covering higher-order grammatical functions relevant to an academic context
