LMC seeks part-time instructors for Fall 2018 EAP classes

Lake Michigan College is seeking qualified, experienced English for Academic Purposes instructors for three credit-bearing EAP courses (Academic Writing, Academic Reading, and Academic Speaking/Listening).

We have approximately 2 part-time faculty openings. We seek instructors with experience in the following areas:

·         Content-based and task-based approaches to language teaching

·         Academic writing instruction (e.g., communicating in an academic environment, paragraph development, and essay-writing)

·         Interactive academic listening (e.g., lecture comprehension and note-taking skills)

·         Interactive academic speaking (e.g., small and large-group discussion skills and strategies)

·         Academic reading instruction (e.g., comprehension of and critical thinking with complex texts, summarizing and paraphrasing information, academic vocabulary building)

·         Covering higher-order grammatical functions relevant to an academic context

·         Creating self-made instructional materials that support learning outcomes and supplement course texts

·         Supporting a course through a learning management system (LMS) such as Canvas (preferred), Moodle, Sakai, etc.

Instructional Dates: September 04, 2018 – December 16, 2018 (with orientation and program development time from August 27 – 31, 2018)
