Christen M. Pearson is a Professor of English at Grand Valley State University where she teaches undergraduate and graduate applied linguistic courses including introductory linguistics, applied linguistics, methods of TESOL, second language acquisition, and language learning disorders.  Her areas of special interest and research include:  the interface of second language acquisition and language learning disorders in children, phonological working memory, language attrition, and second language acquisition in the special population of internationally adopted children.  Her work has been published in TESOL’s TEIS On-Line Journal, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s The ASHA Leader and Communication Disorders and Sciences in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Populations, Families of Russian and Ukrainian Adoption’s The Family Focus, and various conference proceedings. Additionally, she has served as a reviewer for Language Learning and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Finally, she has served MITESOL as President, ESL x Special Education SIG leader,  the Conference Proceedings Co-Editor, and now is pleased to serve as Co-Editor for the new MITESOL Journal.
